Our theme for the month of April was animals! We were so lucky to have chicks come visit our class this month. On Monday the 18th of April five eggs with chicks in them were delivered to our school. They came in an incubator. An incubator keeps the eggs nice and warm. On Tuesday three of our eggs hatched open, we named the chicks Cookie, Fluffy and Sam. They are so cute!! We were so excited to go visit them down in Room 4!
This week we had the chance to keep the chicks in our classroom for a few days! After they hatched in the incubator we had to lift them and put them in to their little house which is called a brooder. We all had the chance to sit and watch the chicks playing around and eating and drinking their food and water. We were all so amazed to see how much the chicks had grew over the past few days. Everyday before we went home we had to make sure that there was enough water and food for the chicks to last them the night!
On Wednesday we had a lovely surprise. Teacher and Clare came in to our class, we all sat in a circle and we all had the opportunity to hold one of the three chicks. We all loved this. Take a look at the pictures below of some of us holding the chicks! :)
We were all so sad to say goodbye to the chicks today after school but we know its time that they went back to the farm to their mammies and daddies!
